Harnai Beach is One of the most popular beaches in Dapoli, Harnai is a long flat beach with the Suvarnadurg fort looming in the horizons on the northern side and the vast expanse of sandy beach extending upto Karde and further towards the southern side.
Named after one of the greatest visionaries the nation has seen to date, the Harnai beach or the Maharshi Karve Beach, is a vast expanse of sandy beach. A very popular beach with bird watchers the northern end of Harnai beach almost always is filled with schools of sea gulls. The Durga Devi temple right at the start of the way to the Maharshi Karve, Harnai beach is one of the most important temples in this part of Dapoli. The Durga Devi temple was built way back in the 18th century with Durga Devi as the presiding diety with a pyramid-like roof of terracotta tiles, along with a pond and a hanging temple bell to the left of the main entrance.
The Photo gallery in the honour of the first Bharat Ratna laureate - Maharshi Dr. Dhondo Keshav Karve is at Harnai and well worth a visit if you want to see some of the rarest and historic photographs of Maharshi Dhondo Keshav Karve and his efforts towards education for women and widow marriage. Though a small step to pay homage to a great man the effort is difinitely ladable.

Located about a quarter of a mile off the coast from Harnai port is the fascinating Suvarnadurg Fort A rocky island, Suvarnadurg is about 8 acres big with stone wall bastions. The sea-gate depicts carved figures of a tiger, eagle and elephants and fifteen old guns have also been located in the fort. Suvarnadurg is cetainly a must visit during your Dapoli vacation
